At first glance the characters and their stories appear disconnected – a homosexual (Mark Pierpont) becomes an “ex-gay” evangelist; a German radical (Hans-Joachim Klein) orchestrates acts of terrorism; a troubled young man (Joe Loya) takes to robbing banks; and a scrawny teen (Mark Salzman) learns to master martial arts. But as their accounts unfold in riveting detail, surprising parallels arise. All four men embark on a journey of passionate conviction, be it for politics, religion, or personal fulfillment. But intensity unwittingly leads to extremism, and each man find’s himself so deeply entrenched that he’s become the opposite of what he’d intended.
